Shafts are slightly inclined horizontal mining works used for underground access. According to the purpose, we can divide them into:
- logging adits: serve for geological exploration of the deposit
- mining adits: serve to mining an already known deposit
- transport adits: within a larger mine, they are used to transport ore or material
- heritage(drainage) adits: important mining works intended primarily for the drainage of entire mining areas
- blind adits (horizon corridors): are dug in underground and are used for mining of deposit
- water adits - mining works excavated exclusively for the supply of water from water reservoirs (tajch) to the mining workings, where the water was used for various purposes
