Creative workshops for children from Elementary Schools – Banská Belá and Bakomi Private Elementary Schools.

Elementary School in Banská Belá

On August 18, older students from Elementary School in Banská Belá visited the Gallery. At the exhibition of Jarmila Mitríková and Dávid Demjanovič “Whispering Shadows, Blazing Flames, and the Green Oracle“, the children were inspired by ceramic masks and created their own ones from paper and textiles. The result of their work was a joint exhibition organized by two selected classmates as “designated curators“. The children thus learned that each exhibition of artworks is a subject to certain rules set by a person called the curator. After the short exhibition of masks in the Gallery, we continued with a tour of the “Sands of the Microworld” exhibition. Then the children shared their impressions of the time spent in the Gallery sitting in the model of a thistle flower, which is part of Jozef Pilát's installation in the Gallery's atrium.

Bakomi Private Elementary School.

On August 25, younger students from Bakomi Private Elementary School visited the Jozef Kollár Gallery. Once again, we challenged the children to be inspired by the exhibition of Jarmila Mitríková and Dávid Demjanovič “Whispering Shadows, Blazing Flames, and the Green Oracle”. The topic of making masks and using them in magical rituals fascinated the children so much that they decided to invoke rainfall (and it started to rain the next day!). Then we looked together at the exhibition “Sands of the Microworld” and talked about climate change, and also about how we can all have a more responsible approach to the environment. Finally, the children sat in the atrium, in Jozef Pilát’s artwork – model of a thistle flower (installation Per aspera ad astra).
